Cleaning Maids provides a marketplace that connects customers who need home, Airbnb, or office cleaning with cleaners who can bid for and complete those jobs. This Privacy Policy explains how Cleaning Maids collects, uses, shares, protects, and retains personal information when you use the Cleaning Maids website or mobile application.
Information we collect
We may collect account information such as your name, email address, telephone number, profile photo, role, and login or authentication records. Customers may provide service addresses, suburbs, access instructions, job descriptions, preferred dates and times, photographs, bid selections, booking details, support requests, reviews, disputes, and chat messages.
Cleaners may provide profile information, service areas, rates, availability, experience, biography, bid details, payment-recipient information, and verification documents. Verification documents may include a South African identity document or passport. Non-South-African applicants must also provide a valid residence or work permit that authorises the contemplated work. These documents are used for an in-house human review and are not displayed to customers or other cleaners.
We may also collect device and technical information needed to provide the service, such as push-notification tokens, device type, app version, security logs, IP address, consent records, and audit events. We do not intentionally use advertising SDKs or sell personal information.
How we use information
We use personal information to create and secure accounts; publish and match cleaning jobs; allow cleaners to bid; enable customers to compare and select cleaners; create and manage bookings; provide private booking chat; send service notifications; process and reconcile payments where available; review identity and work-eligibility documents; prevent fraud and abuse; moderate content; resolve complaints and disputes; provide customer support; comply with law; and improve the reliability and safety of the marketplace.
Information sharing
We share only the information reasonably needed to operate a booking. Public cleaner profiles may show a display name, photo, service information, rates, area, reviews, and verification outcome. Before a booking is confirmed, customers should not receive a cleaner’s private identity documents, and cleaners should not receive a customer’s exact address unless needed for the confirmed service.
We may share information with service providers that support hosting, authentication, file storage, communications, notifications, analytics, fraud prevention, payments, or legal compliance. Those providers may process information only for the services they provide to us. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the public, or as part of a lawful business transfer. We do not publicly disclose government identification numbers or verification documents.
Payments
Where payments are enabled, payment processing may be provided by PayFast or another disclosed payment service provider. Payment providers process payment and recipient information under their own privacy terms. Cleaning Maids does not intentionally store full payment-card details.
Data security
We use administrative, technical, and access controls designed to protect personal information. Sensitive verification documents are restricted to authorised reviewers and are not included in public profiles. No system can guarantee absolute security, and users should protect their login credentials and report suspected misuse promptly.
Retention
We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the service, maintain marketplace and financial records, handle disputes, prevent fraud, enforce agreements, and meet legal obligations. Verification documents are retained only for the period required for review, re-verification, fraud prevention, or applicable legal obligations, after which they are deleted or securely anonymised where appropriate. Some transaction, payment, audit, dispute, and legal records may need to be retained after account deletion.
Your choices and rights
You may update certain profile information in the app. You may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction regarding your personal information, subject to applicable law and lawful retention requirements. You may disable push notifications in your device settings. South African users may also exercise rights available under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
Account deletion
Users can start an account-deletion request from the Privacy and Data section inside the Cleaning Maids app. You may also use the public account-deletion page at https://cleaningmaids.co.za/account-deletion/. We may verify the request before acting on it. Active bookings, unresolved disputes, outstanding payments, fraud investigations, and legally required records may need to be completed or retained before full deletion. Information that need not be retained will be deleted or anonymised.
Children
Cleaning Maids is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly allow children to create cleaner or customer accounts.
International processing
Some service providers may process data outside South Africa. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to use providers and safeguards appropriate to the information and applicable law.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service, law, or our providers change. We will publish the updated date and provide additional notice where a material change requires it.
Contact
For privacy questions or requests, use the contact details and form at https://cleaningmaids.co.za/contact/. Please include enough information for us to identify your account and understand the request, but do not send identity documents through ordinary email unless specifically instructed through a secure channel.
Optional address suggestions
When you use address suggestions while posting a cleaning job, the street text you type is sent securely to Google Maps through our server to find matching South African addresses. You can switch to manual entry instead. Building or unit details and access instructions are entered separately and are not included in these lookup requests.
We do not save your suggestion history. If you select a match, you can correct its suburb, city, province or postal code before confirming your job. Your confirmed full address is kept private for the booking and is not displayed in public job listings. Google processes address lookup requests under its Privacy Policy and Google Maps Terms.
